Are you having difficulties reading stories in News for Docs? Here's your fix.

June 3, 2024

In recent weeks, some News for Docs subscribers have had difficulties reading news stories. These stories are typically listed at the top of the daily newsletter and they should, when clicked, link the reader directly to an online source. For other stories, the links take you to the text-based story that appears lower down in the news letter.

Upon clicking one of the links, some readers see the screen below:

Meltwater for mobileYou will not be able to log into the app.

Clicking View on Mobile Web should allow you to read the story online. It appears that, having done this once, the stories default to that setting going forward.

If you do not see this option to click Mobile Web, then you can adjust your device settings to achieve the same result.

For Apple devices:

  • On your phone or device, go to whatever browser you are using.
    • Please note: You must use settings in the browser that you use, e.g., Safari or Chrome. You cannot do this from the general settings for your phone/device.
  • On an iPhone under browser settings, there is a section called Settings for Websites or Request Desktop Website. Change the setting to Request Desktop Website. That should automatically direct you to the online story going forward.

For Android:

On an Android, go to browser settings, scroll down to Desktop Site and toggle it on.
