MUST SEE: Video comprehensive care model

June 27, 2024

Dr. Paul Parks, AMA President

Dear Members,

I appreciated that about 280 members joined the June 26 Inside Scoop virtual town hall on June 25. (Having rescheduled to allow everyone the opportunity to watch the Stanley Cup final the preceding evening, we were disappointed that the Oilers did not prevail. Spirits appeared relatively good nonetheless!)

I gave a high-level update on the Physician Comprehensive Care Model that we have been negotiating with government continuously in past weeks and months. If you missed the town hall, be sure to view the presentation on the AMA website (member login required).

Participants generally seemed very encouraged by the significant progress we have made. I gave only high-level information since some details are still being finalized. Viewing the presentation will give you a good idea of the comprehensive nature of the PCCM.

I want to emphasize that all the details will be provided upon roll out. You’ll have a chance to plug in numbers from your practice and see how you may be impacted as you decide whether this option is right for you. If you want to go forward, we will have all the support you will need in our written and online communications. We will also have Accelerating Change Transformation Team (ACTT) staff ready to help physicians move through the change process that will be involved.

We are closer to the finish line than we were a week ago. As I wrote then: Let’s get this thing done. The AMA’s foot remains firmly on the gas until we get there. I will keep you posted.

Regards,

Paul Parks
President, Alberta Medical Association
