ARP retro payments

February 24, 2023

Dr. Fredrykka Rinaldi, AMA President

Dear Members:

There is a new Alberta Health Bulletin regarding 2022-23 retroactive payments for physicians in clinical alternative relationship plans, Academic Medicine Health Services Program, sessional clinical alternative relationship plans and Blended Capitation Model. Each category has a payment schedule that is explained in the bulletin.

Some community-based physicians in ARPs have also asked about the retroactive payment associated with the Business Costs Program. Alberta Health advises that they are preparing a separate bulletin to all physicians with regards to the timing for retroactivity for this program.

Members may have concerns about time frames and we have advocated to have an expedited retroactive payment made to all ARPs. However, we understand that these timeframes relate to technical and capacity issues at AH. In the meantime, I hope it’s helpful to have some information on what to expect as of today.

You are always welcome to share your thoughts with me. You can email me via president@albertadoctors.org. You can also comment on this letter on the AMA website.
