PCPCM allows participating physicians to bill for time spent providing direct and indirect care.
Time-based billings are submitted using a non-patient-specific Unique Lifetime Identifier (ULI). This record must have the ULI 10814-7612, with Province Code AB. All other details about this "patient" record (name, DOB, etc.) have no impact on PCPCM billing.
Some EMR vendors have built specific functions to help physicians bill and/or track billable time. In other EMRs, the clinic creates a patient record with the above ULI and bills this "patient" for time in whatever usual method the EMR allows.
See below for EMR-specific tips on billing for time.
Note: This information may change as EMR providers adapt their software to support PCPCM.
-
Create a PCPCM Time "patient" in Accuro to submit time codes – ULI 10814-7612
-
If a clinic wants, they can create a different Time patient for use by each provider, using the same ULI.
-
Ctrl+B creates a new patient bill, load the patient PCPCM Time, add appropriate PCPCM service code and add calls.
AVA has created a new time tracking feature that also allows you to bill for time for PCPCM.
When this feature is rolled out to AVA clinics, you can locate it by choosing the Billing pulldown menu, choose AB Billing, then select Billing Advisor on the top right of the window.
The Billing Advisor tool will estimate your time worked by reviewing your schedule, then allow you to adjust as necessary and bill directly from the Advisor tool. Stay tuned for AVA web resources demonstrating this function.
