President's Letter
Dear Members,
The Representative Forum held a productive two-day meeting March 10 and 11 in Calgary. The major topics included:
- Agreement implementation update.
- System integration: Partnership among initiatives including Modernizing Alberta’s Primary Health Care System (MAPS), activities of the Specialty Care Alliance (SCA), Community Integrated Information/Central Patient Attachment Registry (CII/CPAR), Home to Hospital to Home (H2H2H) transitions and Connect Care.
- Physician Compensation Strategy: Income Equity Initiative, AHS payments including stipends and on-call.
- Governance.
- AMA’s plans for a public information program around the upcoming provincial election.
Across all activities and initiatives, we will judge our success with three questions:
- Are we stabilizing physician practices that are struggling every day to survive?
- Are we ensuring Alberta is competitive with other provinces in retaining and attracting talent?
- Are we building up integrated team-based care toward developing a medical and health home for every Albertan?
You are always welcome to share your thoughts with me. You can email me via [email protected]. You can also comment on this letter on the AMA website.
