President's Letter

Dear Members,

The Community Information Integration and Central Patient Attachment Registry (CII/CPAR) enables physicians and their teams to share patient information to Alberta Netcare directly from their electronic medical record (EMR).

The AMA Agreement includes a $12 million CII/CPAR Acceleration Grant to help increase the adoption of CII/CPAR. This grant is entirely funded by Alberta Health, available on a first-come, first-served basis and intended to compensate physicians for their time and the administrative requirements related to enrolment and participation in CII/CPAR.

CII/CPAR is for both family physicians and non-family medicine specialists. New and existing participating physicians will receive a one-time payment of $1,000 for their first data submission to CII/CPAR, and a second payment will be issued after at least three months of data is submitted. You can read more about the grant and eligibility criteria here. Additional information about how physicians will receive their payments will be provided in the coming weeks, but I encourage members who have not already done so to get enrolled. The sooner you enrol the sooner you can take full advantage of the funding.

A Zoom meeting is being hosted on Thursday, April 27 from 12-12:45 p.m. All interested physicians, clinic staff, PCN executive directors, etc., are invited to attend (registration required). This will be an opportunity to find out more about what is involved and ask questions.

In the meantime, please direct any questions related to CII/CPAR or the Acceleration Grant to [email protected].

You are always welcome to share your thoughts with me. You can email me via [email protected]. You can also comment on this letter on the AMA website.
