More than 175 primary care leaders from across Alberta gathered in early 2025 to discuss the modernizing of the province's primary health care system.
The AMA-ACTT hosted the one-time MAPS Summit January 23-24, 2025, in Edmonton, bringing together, Primary Care Network staff and leadership, representatives from Alberta Health Services and the provincial government to check-in on the implementation of the Modernizing Alberta’s Primary Health Care System (MAPS) initiative.
Alberta Health launched the initiative back in September 2022 to identify where and how primary health care improvements can be made in the short-term and longer-term, from five to 10 years.
Over the two days of MAPS Summit, the invited attendees heard presentations from guest speakers and participated in two breakout sessions to provide feedback and input on MAPS regional and local implementation to date.

The next AMA-ACTT hosted primary care-focused event is Primary Care Strategic Forum. The three-day event on May 1-3, 2025 in Edmonton will focus on the future of primary care in Alberta with a plenary and keynote speakers, a panel discussion and a variety of breakout sessions.
