The AMA’s ADIUM Insurance Services Inc. partners with the Professional Association of Resident Physicians of Alberta for competitive group disability and life insurance coverage for all eligible PARA members.
When you complete your residency program, you can convert your PARA disability and life insurance to the competitive plans offered by the AMA, without having to prove good health. Contact ADIUM for more details.
You may also continue to increase coverage as a practicing physician, without having to prove good health, through the Guaranteed Insurability Benefit Rider (GIB) on your disability insurance, which comes automatically as part of your PARA conversion.

Important: Post-graduate residents commencing training in Alberta effective July 1, 2023, will not be eligible for conversion of PARA Disability Insurance coverage. All ministry-funded residents on record as of June 30, 2023, will continue to be eligible for conversion upon successful completion of their program.
