The AMA has implemented a hybrid work environment; therefore, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work from home within Alberta but will be required to go into our Edmonton or Calgary offices when required. Travel to meet with physicians and other stakeholders throughout the province may be required.

Position Overview

The Health System Transformation branch represents the AMA’s interests by supporting physicians in their role as leaders within the health care system. This includes facilitating the development, integration and implementation of innovations in health care delivery by working with and providing support to various provincial health strategic initiatives, including but not limited to advancing the Patient’s Medical Home and integration with the health neighborhood.

As the Advisor, Health System Transformation, reporting to the Senior Consultant, HST, you will provide support for and/or lead assigned projects and initiatives to ensure HST can meet strategic objectives and achieve desired results and outcomes for members.  

In this role, you will:

  • oversee the coordination of Scope and Standard of Practice requests, including identifying and consulting with appropriate AMA sections for feedback, liaison and collaborate with physician clinical experts, gathering all information to complete final submission report.
  • coordinate work, follow up on deliverables, monitor and manage flow of information related to assigned projects and activities.
  • manage and/or supports work arising from assigned committees and working groups including: proactively and intuitively determining work/priorities based on discussions in meetings; ensuring a flow of information to appropriate stakeholders; and completing or assigning tasks/work that arise from meetings.
  • provide support for or lead assigned HST activities/projects, including completing research, planning and coordination of work, drafting reports or various documents/materials, liaison with internal and external partners and providing updates to the Senior Consultant, HST and the Executive Vice President, HST.
  • develop and facilitate sessions for physicians.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in health policy, health administrator, business or related area.
  • At least five (5) years of experience of experience in a health care environment completing research, analyzing information, supporting health policy/advocacy initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Planner etc.) and virtual meeting software (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
  • General knowledge and understanding of Alberta healthcare landscape and AMA.
  • Experience working with multi-partner committees/working groups.

  • Strong project coordination skills.

The salary for this role is between $83,572 - $108,644 per annum.
