On October 1, 2024, the AMA launched a major advertising campaign,
Informed Reform.
The main message is this: Government is not listening to physicians. Decisions are being made without application of relevant expertise. Our system needs informed reform.
We are telling Albertans that their care and well being are at risk – and asking them to tell government to listen to Alberta’s doctors when we say: This cannot continue. Patient care is at stake.
The campaign is only one way we will push government to honour its promises and listen to patients and physicians instead of management consultants. It is a multi-media campaign that will run over an extended period. The campaign includes digital and social media advertising, billboards, a campaign website and community-based advertising via posters in physician offices.
AMA Fact Checkup
Every day, misinformation about the health care system – often coming from government talking points – gets amplified and repeated in media coverage and on social media. For physicians, evidence matters. The barrage of misleading commentary is incredibly frustrating.
The AMA has launched a Fact Checkup series that will examine and correct misleading or incorrect statements about topics and issues related to our health care system. Misinformation in health care is problematic, and we all need to be accurate and accountable for what we say - Albertans deserve to understand what is going on.
