The AMA has been advocating and representing doctors in this province for decades. Over the years, I've learned just how much the AMA does to stand up for us both behind the scenes and in public. I've been able to witness, firsthand, how effective RF is at getting immediate action on pressing issues. It's inspiring how we all work so well together to make things happen.
An active AMA member
Dr. Mithani has been an AMA member since she began her residency in 2009. Since joining the AMA, Dr. Mithani has been an RF delegate, a member of the Health Issues Council and she has been involved in advocacy through the Joint Task Force.
Favorite AMA memory
Dr. Mithani's favorite memory is when her first motion was passed at a Representative Forum. "There was respectful and engaged discussion around the topic, leading to a vote of overwhelming support. The most impressive part was how quickly leadership acted on the motion."
On a personal note
"Between busy emergency department shifts and ongoing grassroots advocacy, I love spending time with my family. We try to get outside as much as we can, whether it's biking, camping, skiingĀ or just a walk to the neighborhood park. I also enjoy playing ultimate frisbee at a competitive level. It always feels like an easy and fun way to get exercise in!"
