The Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Youth Run Club is a pilot project which aims to help educate Alberta's school-aged kids on the importance of regular physical activity as part of healthy living. The AMA Youth Run Club is rolling out to schools in spring 2013 and is a partnership between the AMA and Ever Active Schools.

The SGP and SRM, via the Primary Care Alliance Board, supports the initiative and encourages physicians to participate in the program by showing support for a local school’s run club. This can be done in a number of different ways; for more information, contact Janet Boyer in Professional Affairs at the AMA (janet.boyer@albertadoctors.org or 780.482.0305/1.800.272.9680).

A list of the 70+ schools participating in the pilot program is available on the Ever Active Schools website. Contact Run Club Coordinator Jackie Crooks for the name and contact information for the local run club leader.
