Dear Members,
Decisions about our health system are continuing to move quickly, and now more than ever, physicians must be part of the conversations that shape what comes next.
One of the most direct ways to do that is through AMA committees, where much of our work happens. They provide practical input on the issues affecting physicians and the care they provide, with members helping to pressure test ideas and solutions against what will actually work in practice.
There are vacancies on several key AMA committees, and I’m encouraging members who are willing to contribute to put their names forward. We are seeking physicians from different practice settings, communities and career stages to help ensure these discussions reflect the range of perspectives across our profession. The strength of the AMA is built on that diversity of expertise and experience, and it’s vital that it is reflected in our committee appointments.
We recognize the value of your time. Committee members receive honoraria and reimbursement for expenses related to attending meetings and undertaking committee work.
Serving on AMA committees helps build leadership capacity and connects members with colleagues from across the province. More importantly, it’s a direct way to have a voice in the issues that affect your day-to-day work and patient care.
There are multiple opportunities available, each contributing to a different area of AMA activity. The following positions have an application deadline of May 29 — just one week from now (term start dates vary):
